Neurological and neuromuscular disorders
We investigate and evaluate horses with suspected neurological and neuromuscular diseases. Neurological diseases in the horse can be very subtle. Careful and thorough neurological examination is required to determine the anatomic localisation of the lesion. Ancillary diagnostic procedures available for assessment of these cases include:

-
Collection and analysis of CSF (CSF requires immediate analysis as it does not store well. This can be performed immediately at our on-site laboratory)
-
Head and vertebral digital radiography
-
Cervical Myelography
-
Blood biochemistry and serology
-
Nerve and muscle biopsy
-
Guttural pouch endoscopy
-
Padded box with overhead hoist for lifting, slinging and management of the severely ataxic or recumbent horse
